Helping Families Stay Safe at Home
At Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, we do more than build new homes — we help preserve the homes our neighbors already have. Through our Aging in Place modifications, Critical Home Repair program, and neighborhood revitalization projects, we partner with families and older adults to make their homes safe, accessible, and affordable for the long term.
Common repairs and improvements include:
- Roof, siding, and window replacements
- Accessibility updates: ramps, grab bars, better lighting
- Exterior repairs and painting to extend the life of the home
- Small modifications to help older adults remain independent
When families can stay in their homes safely, neighborhoods grow stronger, healthier, and more connected.
Who Can Apply for Repairs?
Families and seniors across Goodhue County may qualify for repair assistance if they meet the following guidelines:
Homeownership: You must own and live in your home in Goodhue County.
Income: Household income must fall between 30–80% of the area median income (currently less than about $90,550/year for a family of four — guidelines vary by household size).
Need: The requested project must be within Habitat’s scope (safety, accessibility, or exterior improvements — not additions or major remodels or “handyman” projects).
Willingness to Partner: Homeowners agree to contribute in small ways, when able — this might mean assisting volunteers, sharing your story, or simply cheering the team on.
