Remembering Pastor Dick EickÂ
We are saddened by the loss of Pastor Dick Eick, who passed away in mid-August. Pastor Dick was a beloved former board member, committee member, and dedicated volunteer. He was a champion for every family who walked the road to homeownership through Habitat. His legacy of compassion and service will always be a part of our Habitat family!

With the cold months approaching, it’s important to prepare your home for winter. Here’s a handy checklist to help ensure your home is safe, energy-efficient, and ready to withstand the season:
Inspect Windows and Doors: Look for leaks, holes, or chipping paint. Ensure windows and doors close properly to keep moisture and cold air out. Addressing any issues now can help lower your heating costs and keep pests at bay.
Clear Gutters and Downspouts: Once the leaves have fallen, clear your gutters to prevent ice dams and water damage. Make sure water is draining away from your home’s foundation to avoid structural damage.
Store Summer Tools & Equipment: After the final lawn cut, clean and store tools like mowers, furniture, and toys. Don’t forget to drain fuel from your lawn equipment or add a fuel stabilizer for the winter.
Drain Garden Hoses and Faucets: Disconnect hoses and drain exterior faucets to avoid freezing and burst pipes.
Check Your HVAC System: Clean your air conditioning unit and dryer ducts, and replace furnace filters before turning on the heat.
Test Safety Equipment: Change the batteries in your smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms, and thermostats. Also, check the expiration dates on your fire extinguishers.
Prepare for Daylight Savings: Don’t forget to set your clocks back before bed on Saturday, November 2nd!
