...A Streamlined Way to Get Involved & Make an Impact with Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity
At Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity, our volunteers are the heartbeat of our mission. Whether building homes, working behind the scenes, or advocating for affordable housing, volunteers are essential in helping us empower local families and build stronger communities. That’s why we’re excited to announce the launch of our new Bloomerang Volunteer Portal—a user-friendly system designed to streamline your experience and connect you to the work that matters most.
Working Toward a Seamless Experience for Volunteers
Our new Bloomerang Volunteer Portal isn’t just a sign-up tool; it’s part of our broader effort to better integrate all aspects of our community engagement. Bloomerang powers our donor and volunteer databases, which means that whether you’re donating or volunteering, we’ll have a comprehensive understanding of your involvement and can better communicate opportunities and updates that matter to you.
*Please Note:
If you’ve volunteered with us before, you’ll need to re-register in our new system. This ensures that your account is set up in the new portal and that you receive updates about the latest volunteer opportunities. If you’re new to GCHabitat, signing up is easy—just head over to the Bloomerang Volunteer Portal, create an account, and you’re ready to go!
Why is this important?
One System, Better Communication: Bloomerang helps us streamline communication by allowing us to keep everything—your volunteer history, event participation, communications and contributions—all in one place. This integration ensures that you receive tailored updates about upcoming opportunities, event invitations, and newsletters relevant to your interests.
Stay Connected: By registering in the new system, you can stay up to date on our ongoing projects, like the Spring has Sprung Annual Celebration and Auction (April 22, 2025) and the exciting development of HOPE Heights and beyond.
Easy to Use: Registering is quick and simple! Once you’re in, you can browse and sign up for volunteer opportunities that fit your schedule and interests.
How to Get Started
Step 1: Volunteer Registration
Visit the portal and complete your volunteer profile registration. This lets us know your skills, availability, interests and expertise. *(Helpful Tip: Opportunities may be filtered based on what you set as your availability. Leave your Availability "OPEN" to see everything or "Enter Special-Exception Dates" when your schedule changes)The registration form also includes our 2024 waiver/release form, so you’ll be all set once this step is completed.
Step 2: Explore Opportunities & Select Your Shifts
Browse our current projects and sign up for shifts that work for you. Receive personalized updates on future opportunities, event details, and much more.
Step 3: Stay Informed — Download the App!
You should receive a confirmation email after signing up. To make managing your volunteer experience easier, you can download our free volunteer app. With the app, you can sign up for shifts, track/adjust your hours, and communicate with the team.

Types of Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteer opportunities go beyond construction work on our build sites. We offer various ways for people of all backgrounds and skill levels to get involved. Here are just a few ways you can lend a hand:
Construction Opportunities: Join an individual single-day build or commit to ongoing seasonal opportunities with our “Go-To Build Crew.” Volunteers work on a variety of tasks, from framing walls to painting homes.
Group Builds: Rally your business, church, youth group, or other organization to join us for a day or more of team-building through service.
Specialty Programs: Whether you’re a youth involved in a school or campus chapter, an AmeriCorps member, or a Care-A-Vanner traveling the country to build homes, we have a place for you.
Non-Construction Roles: Help with behind-the-scenes work, such as serving on our Board of Directors, Executive Committee, or other committees like Building & Site Selection, Marketing & Financial, Family Services, or Volunteer & Community Relations.
Volunteer Leadership: If you’re passionate about Habitat’s mission and want to make a long-term commitment, consider a leadership role in supporting volunteers or helping in our Habitat offices.
Need Help? Training is also available HERE.
If you encounter any issues during registration or have questions, feel free to contact Community Engagement & Marketing Director, Chelsey Mingone via email at chelseym@gchabitat.org or 651-327-2564. While we recognize this shift comes with a learning curve - we’re thrilled to introduce this new portal and make it easier than ever for you to stay connected with our work. Together, we can build more than homes—we can build hope, opportunity, and brighter futures for families in Goodhue County.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership in this mission. We can’t wait to see you out on the build site, at a community event, or serving in one of our many volunteer roles!
