HOW IT WORKS
Four Simple Steps to Claim Your Credit
STEP 1
Apply Early
Apply for the State Housing Tax Credit through Minnesota Housing or Habitat Minnesota. The statewide pool is limited and may be fully allocated in 2–4 weeks. Applications open February 17, 2026. Sign up for our E-Newsletter for a reminder.
STEP 2
Choose Goodhue County Habitat
When completing your State Housing Tax Credit application, be sure to select Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity as your designated organization. This ensures your gift supports local families and affordable housing efforts right here in Goodhue County.
STEP 3
Make Your Contribution
Once approved, you’ll receive instructions for submitting your donation — typically within 30 days. (Minimum gift $1,000 / Maximum $2 million per tax year.)
STEP 4
Receive Your Tax Credit
You’ll get an official Tax Credit Certificate to claim on your Minnesota tax return. → 85% of your contribution is credited back against your state income tax liability.
