HOPE Heights: Building Red Wing’s Future

HOPE Heights is a bold, once-in-a-generation opportunity to change the trajectory of housing in Red Wing. As Goodhue County Habitat’s largest project to date, it will expand affordable homeownership and help working families remain part of the community.

HOPE Heights stands for Habitat Opportunities for Prosperity and Empowerment— a name that reflects what this new neighborhood is designed to create. Located on the former St. John’s Hospital site, HOPE Heights will bring 26 affordable homes to a beautiful, established neighborhood on Red Wing’s bluffs.

Over the coming years, 10 single-family houses and eight twin homes will welcome 26 families, all designed for energy efficiency, walkability, and long-term stability.

More than a construction project, HOPE Heights is about strengthening the community — creating a Red Wing where teachers, caregivers, and local workers can live in the same place they serve. With only a 1.6-month supply of homes available, far below a healthy six-month standard, too many working families are being priced out.

With early support from the Red Wing Area Fund and partnership with the City of Red Wing, the vision for HOPE Heights is becoming reality.
