Dear Friends and Neighbors,
At Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity (GCHFH), we are committed to ensuring that every resident has access to affordable homeownership, the ability to age in place, and youth workforce development opportunities. We believe that everyone deserves a decent place to live, and together, we are breaking down barriers to make this possible.
There’s something powerful that happens when a community unites with a shared purpose. Over their eight-week journey, our AmeriCorps NCCC team has demonstrated just that. Thanks to their hard work and dedication, we’ve made significant progress on our twin home build in Red Wing—bringing two deserving families closer to homeownership. These homes represent more than just walls and a roof; they are a promise of stability, security, and a brighter future.
We’re also very proud of the continuous progress made by the students of Goodhue Wildcats Build24 and Kenyon-Wanamingo Knights Build24 - GCHFH's "Build for Tomorrow" Campus Chapters - and the opportunities the Minnesota State Housing Tax Credit Program and Contribution Fund offer our supporters. By taking advantage of this program, you can make a direct impact on affordable housing and youth workforce development while benefiting from tax savings. Every contribution, whether it’s your time, expertise, or financial support, creates ripples of change that transform lives and strengthen communities for generations to come.
As we celebrate these successes, we must acknowledge the challenges ahead. Uncertain federal and state funding, coupled with rising economic pressures, make it increasingly difficult for organizations like ours to secure the resources we need to meet the growing demand for affordable workforce housing. But as we face these challenges, we are reminded of the resilience and generosity of our community. Now more than ever, we need your support —whether that’s volunteering on-site, making a donation, joining our staff, or serving on one of our leadership committees. Your involvement will help us continue to rise above these obstacles.
If you’re not comfortable picking up a hammer, don’t worry! There are countless other ways to contribute. We’ve just launched our new Bloomerang Volunteer Portal, making it easier than ever to get involved. Whether you’re interested in non-construction days, advocacy roles, event planning, or providing meals for volunteers, there’s something for everyone!
We’re also hiring! Our Habitat team is expanding, and we’re looking for passionate individuals to fill two key roles: Aging in Place Construction Manager and Construction Project Supervisor. If you or someone you know is eager to make a meaningful impact, we encourage you to apply.
Our mission is sustained by the strength of our community. It’s your dedication, passion, and belief in the importance of affordable workforce housing that keeps us moving forward. Together, we will continue to break down barriers and create positive, lasting change.
Thank you for your unwavering support. I encourage you to explore this newsletter to learn more about our recent projects and join us as we work toward a brighter future.
In solidarity,
Bob Hawley
