Naomi’s Homeowner Story: “You Built Us a Future!”

Meet Naomi, our newest homeowner in Kenyon, MN, through Goodhue County Habitat for Humanity’s partner family program.
Naomi’s home was one of two pilot student-build homes throughout the last school year, and she closed on her new home in June 2025. The home was built with the help of Kenyon-Wanamingo high school students along with the Rochester Build-Crew, local volunteers, Naomi and her family/friend’s, and our construction staff. THANK YOU ALL!
Naomi recently sat down with Angie Foss, our Homeowner Services Manager, to chat about her journey to homeownership over the past 16 months. Here’s a little of what she shared.
Angie: What does this home mean to you?
Naomi: It means independence, stability, and a fresh start for my kids and me. After four years of sharing space with my parents, we finally have a place of our own.
Angie: Who made this possible?
Naomi: So many people! Over 3,000 hours from Kenyon-Wanamingo carpentry students, 1,800 hours from Rochester volunteers, guidance from the patient and dedicated Habitat staff, and support from my parents and the friends who stepped in whenever needed.
Angie: What stands out most for you about this experience?
Naomi: The heart of the volunteers and students. Every wall holds their kindness, hard work, and dedication to create a future and give back.
Angie: What do you want to say to supporters?
Naomi: Thank you for building more than a house. You’ve built a future for my family and given us hope that we’ll carry forward forever.
